Yesterday, I spoke about the Gates/Buffett initiative. That philanthropic concept certainly makes a big splash. One the world recognizes.

Charity- begins at home?
Yesterday, I spoke about the need for us to donate to charity. Many of us do that because we want to help those less advantaged than ourselves, others do so to save money on their taxes. Today, I’ll talk about the what Mark Zuckerberg (and his wife, Dr. Priscilla Chan) recently announced- after I introduce the Gates/Buffett pledge program.
Help! I need somebody!
It’s that time of year. The end of the year. When everyone all of a sudden realizes they may owe a lot of taxes and want desperately to change that situation.
Shattered Dreams?
This has been in my queue for a while now. Now that it’s public, I will share some insights about this deal.
Crucial bugs
Gut check? Not such a bad idea, if you are going in for cancer chemotherapy. Because the microbial flora in our gut may been the difference between a successful chemo course- or not.
Truth, Justice, and the American Way?
I remember being assigned to read ‘The Jungle’ by Upton Sinclair and ‘Elmer Gantry’ by Sinclair Lewis way back in what is now called middle school. Admittedly, I often confused the two writers’ names, but I enjoyed the two books immensely. And, learned that our commerical (and religious) industries still need a lot of work. (That still hasn’t changed all that much in half a century, either.)
What Freezes Over?
It’s winter- almost. But, even so, we’ve had freezing rain and snow all over the US.
Which means I have the chance to teach you a little bit of chemistry.
Tools of the Trade
About half my efforts are spent working with lawyers, physicians, and other professionals. They are among my client base since they rely upon the proprietary software and business smarts that they obtain from us to run their businesses. But (unfortunately?), not all of these type of folks employ our services. And, I’m amazed at what I see when I examine new clients’ business systems.
Stem Cells to the Rescue?
Yes, Japan allows stem cell research- the research that can’t be effected by most Americans. The US government has forbidden one scintilla of such research to be performed, if the institution receives even one penny of US funding. Which means that American scientists cannot use their ingenuity to produce the artificial organs that would result if they could. But, the research about which I am reporting today is actually legal under US law.
Implantable Dialyzer
We’ve discussed the new wearable kidney and the new home dialysis device. Today, we’ll discuss an implantable device- one that replaces the dialysis device, but not the kidneys. Which will have to do until there is a stem-cell kidney replacement.
