Remember when I wrote about the deadly purple pill? Where I warned you that it often led to kidney failure? I mentioned also that affects (negatively) bone density and probably causes gut infections. Well, that last fact is becoming extremely obvious.

Selma- from the mouths of babes
So, last week, I described my reactions to our synagogue’s trip to Selma, Montgomery, Birmingham, and Atlanta. I told you that we went with about 100 folks ranging in age from 5 to 90. And, we were joined by students from George Washington University and from Birmingham.

Well, what a surprise. Healthcare insurance is back in the news.
But, the problem is really how do we find ways to ensure (not insure) that citizens have adequate access to healthcare. And, then how do we find ways to pay for that.
Virginia’s Ignominious Past
I have always been shocked and amazed at how things existed in Virginia. From the moment I first became a resident of the Commonwealth in 1976.

As Comdex began to wither, I occasionally visited my most hated city (Las Vegas) in January for the Consumer Electronics Show, which let me keep up with the changes in the technology industry. But, to be honest, the CES focus was on different things than what attracted my (or my clients’) interests- and it was still in Las Vegas.
Back to Patronage?
So, we’ve discussed when does the media call the President a liar- or not. Why the House Republicans want to kill the Committee on Government Ethics. And, today…
The Honor Code (NOT!)
So, by now you know that in the dead of night (and on a Federal holiday to boot), the Republican Congressfolks tried to eliminate the Office of Congressional Ethics (OCE). (This all happened on 2 January 2017.) The Representatives wanted you to believe that they were not removing the need for or the ability to effect ethics oversight, that they would accomplish the same goals with different means. But, we all know that’s a load of manure.
