And, the winner is…

Hmm.  No, it’s not the Nobel Prize.  (Oh, I wanted one of those something fierce when I was young- until I realized it was only for science and not engineering.)  No. it’s not another PhD.  Well, Roy, what the heck is it?

I was designated “The Versatile Blogger”.  I guess that goes along with the expert blogger provided me by Ezine Articles.  Wow.  Someone actually reads what I write.  And, this award requires me to alter my schedule.  I had something in the queue for today- but that will have to wait for another day.

First, thank you, Bonnie Copeland, MyRivendell.com, for your consideration.  I appreciate your vote of confidence.   Secondly, as a consequence of accepting this honor, I must provide you- my readers- with 7 random facts about myself.  So, here goes:

  1. I do almost everything quickly.  From driving (racing?) to reading to talking to walking… there’s two speeds- fast or stop.
  2. I am blessed with three wonderful kids, a son-in-law, and a grandson.  Ranging in age from 2 to 32. (Sue wants an honorable mention- so here it is!)
  3. I am an avid Phillies Phan- having been bit with the bug since I saw Jim Bunning pitch a perfect game against the Mets on Father’s Day 1964.  I follow no other team or sport- with the occasional exception for the University of Michigan Wolverines.
  4. I consider myself a Renaissance Man (no, not from the Middle Ages, silly).  My interests (and knowledge) range from politics to science, from engineering to medicine, from finance to management, with a few languages thrown in for good measure.
  5. I love to laugh.  And, it’s distinctive.  (I’ve been found by my laugh on a main street in a foreign country and met up with along lost friend [who has a different, distinctive laugh] in a crowded bar in Los Angeles (where neither of us lived at the time).
  6. I don’t multitask- I time-slice.   I fill the empty moments between words or motion with something else.
  7. I sleep 3 hours a night.  And, I’ve done so for decades.

The other requirement of this award is to nominate others.  And, that’s tough- not because there aren’t good bloggers out there- but because some of the first ones that came to my mind have been awarded this honor.   So, here goes:

So, there you have it.  My nominees.  I can guarantee you two things.  You will enjoy their writings and you will learn something.  And, that’s what it’s all about.Roy A. Ackerman, Ph.D., E.A.

  1. What a pertinent award for you, Roy, as you are indeed the epitome of versatility as a renaissance man. =) I loved hearing more about you and thanks for inspiring me to keep on my path with interests in many different fields. Many advise me to specialize, but there’s just so much out there in the world to learn! =)

    1. Thank you Samantha. I generally lack the stories you provide, but I do try to impart information- and, perhaps, impel people towards achieving their vision, mission, and goals.
Thanks, again, for your kind words.

      Roy

  2. The award fever is all around! Congratulations!

The sleep thing is a little scary….3 is way too less, but then if you aren’t “disoriented” then it isn’t a problem (Lol!!). And we would love to hear that laugh! Do a video post on that!

  3. Roy, including you in my 7 picks for versitile bloggers was an easy one! I find myself looking forward to your posts every week as there is always some new nugget of information.

    Keep on laughing!
    Bonnie

  4. Roy,

First, I’d like to congratulate you on your award. “The Versatile Blogger” is definitely so you 🙂 and well-deserved.

Second, thank you for nominating me and my blog for providing various types of information for online and offline biz. I would not have known I have a soul mate when it comes to being able to function with three hours sleep. It’s not something we should be proud of because I have a feeling our bodies are not too happy, but like you I don’t sleep a lot. Interesting about the ‘time slice.’ I’ll have to find out more about that from you.
Thanks again, Roy and Congratulations to you!

    1. It’s always amazing what you find when you are not looking. (Which brings up my favorite stupid line… “why is what I am looking for always in the last place I look?” Of course, some people may keep looking AFTER they found what they wanted, but….)

Anyway- congratulations to you, as well.
      Roy
