Rates on the rise?
Surprise! Your health insurance rates are going to go up. Why? Insurance for the insurance companies…
A lesson on “how not to”….
Most of you know that I routinely interface with the IRS (Internal Revenue Service). That effort is taxing my clients double or triple- because the IRS is keeping me on hold for 20, 30, 40, and 60 minutes routinely. Thankfully, there is a purported dedicated line for tax professionals, but even that outlet is being decimated. So, those waits ensue- and my clients are billed unnecessarily. Moreover, the IRS was never responsible for the advice they gave taxpayers over the phone- but now the quality of this advice is worse than ever.
It ain’t Switzerland anymore!
This was not good news. To me, this was on the same plane as the Citizen’s United decision, which meant that the average Joe no longer has an equal voice in any election, because now big money controls it all.

They (and I) arose from the lower middle class; nowadays, this means they probably may lack a home computer or a home internet connection, both of which are the benefits that accrue when one is from the middle or upper classes. And, that doesn’t even include the ability to go to the college of their choice- where the price of tuition may be just one reach too far.
Can amoral entities claim religious freedom?
Is this really about Obamacare (PPACA) or a backdoor entry to change how religion is dealt with in the workplace? I think it’s the latter, and that’s why the Supreme Court will be making a very narrow ruling in Sebelius v. Hobby Lobby Stores.

Rosh Chodesh Adar
It was 25 years ago today. I moved from Charlottesville to Northern Virginia, into a house chosen by my intended; one where we planned to merge our families and spend the rest of our lives together. The last never happened- but our children certainly flourished here.
