This is going to be a bit depressing. We always thought we could teach people all sorts of things. But, four academics (3 from Princeton, 1 from Columbia, but one of the Princeton profs is also at the Hebrew University) just burst that bubble.

Whether or not the Declaration of Independence was issued on 4 July 1776, we have decided to codify that date. And, that means we celebrate our freedoms on that day- today. (Thankfully, it is not among those days that Congress, in its infinite wisdom [read as stupidity], elected to move to Mondays, affording a longer weekend.) We celebrate the day with fireworks, with going to the beach, with barbeques, and with get-togethers.

So, we’ve learned that caring for our aged is a major expense. That is not surprising given that by 2030, some 73 million Americans will be over 65; two years ago that number was about half that- at 40 million.
