Way back when I was a kid, I knew the names of a bunch of great baseball players, in every single team. As I grew older, I really only cared about the folks on my chosen team, the Phillies. So, nowadays, I recognize the names of less than 50 players.

Who’d a Thunk It?
When I travel, I routinely keep to my own time zone. Unless my trip is going to extend beyond 4 days. (Yes, that one time I went to Taiwan for a day- it was a little disconcerting to be off by 12 hours…) It’s the way I avoid having any jet lag problems. It helps that I also am more than able to sleep on planes, and don’t need a whole bunch of sleep, to boot.
In the blink of an eye?
By the time this is posted, the baseball season will be virtually over. OK. There will be playoffs and the World Series. But, to anyone but the lamest, the season for the Philadelphia Phillies will be long over.
A son’s hero.
When I wrote this post , I was hooked on the fact that Michigan- for some ridiculous reason- had managed to find its way to the NCAA Basketball Tournament. You know, March Madness. I got hooked on this because of my son. Who gave four years of his life as the basketball manager for this team- and was there when they lost the last game of the season- the NCAA Championship Game a few years ago.(Just so you know, Michigan succumbed in game 2 to Notre Dame.)
What’s a manager worth?
Unfortunately, my first baseball game of the year was rained out. But, that doesn’t mean I didn’t think about baseball and what it can teach all of us.
Is your religious denomination “Football”?
So, I read a disturbing report in the Washington Post. Because I think it speaks volumes about America- and maybe even the world.
Broken Bat?
Go, Phils! (I know, we are not doing well- but I still support them. With a 2+ hour drive – each way- as a season ticket holder. I even got back last night at 2 AM- and was at a meeting by 5:20 AM this morning.) I’ve been a Phanatic since I was 12. When Jim Bunning pitched a perfect game on Father’s Day. But, I’m not writing about the Phils, per se…
I want you to read about baseball? Really?
If you’ve been reading my blog, you know that I am a big “phan” of the Phillies. And, nowadays, teams trade their people at the drop of the hat. (To be honest, that is not a Phillies trait, but it does happen.) Last year, Jayson Werth, our right fielder was a free agent and though he could get a big boost in pay. He did- but now he’s a Washington National. (I do see every Phillies game here in DC, where I live, as well as in Citizen’s Bank Park. I may not root for the Nats, but I still follow Jayson.)
