It’s the last day of the year. I get to provide one more rant before the calendar page falls to the floor.

What made Poly great for me (besides it’s outstanding educational program) was that it was a ‘commuter’ school. Maybe 50 of 1500 kids were ‘residents’. Everyone else took the subway to and from school every day. So, my age was never a factor.
30 years ago today
Samuel Ruben died 30 years ago today. 2 days beyond his 88th birthday.
Why should you care? Because Samuel Ruben invented the dry cell battery, that ubiquitous device that lets us have power without being tethered to an electric utility.
Woman of STEM
I should tell you that I don’t routinely read the obits. Oh, sure, I have friends who grab my paper to reach the Metro Section and flip to the end. where the obits reside. I always tell them I’ll let them know if they are wirtten up there- there’s no need to study those pages.
Happily Ever After…
I read lots of journals. With some of them I maintain absolute currency; others languish in a pile until I can’t stand it anymore and then I rumple through the stack, seeking out tidbits of knowledge and insight that do no one any good if they remain unread.
