This year, the 15th of April came and went. It was not the day our taxes were due. (Thankfully for our clients, since we were barred from working on the 15th due to the major Jewish festival.) Another change in this world due to COVID-19. Of course, my calendar is not changed by the pandemic- last night marked the end of the Pesach (Passover) holiday. When work is not permitted.

Given the Covid-19 pandemic, I am updating this post from 2016. (This is the third in the series about the pandemic. Here’s one and two.) Because – at least for now- the best way we can ensure that we are not among those visited by the virus is to wash our hands often- and correctly.

Caveat Emptor?
If you’ve been reading my blog for more than a few months, then you know that I am a strong proponent for the use of stem cells to improve our health.
Pandemic!
Way back in the 1950s, most of us were petrified that some jackass would drop the bomb and annihilate the world. Given the “love’ that exuded among the superpowers, the fear of an atomic bomb and its fallout destroying humanity was palpable.
Clean Hands?
I remember teaching my kids how to wash their hands. No, not the ritual washing that we Jews do before meals- but they had to learn that process, too. (Pour water from a pitcher- first on your left hand, then the right, the left, the right, and then say the blessing.) Because that method certainly doesn’t remove the grime and dirt- or microbes- from our hands. And, if you have young kids, you know that sometimes that grime is not just on the surface of the skin, but seems to have been imbued down to the stem cell layers of their skin.

Given the craziness of certain people and their insane beliefs that vaccinations should be withheld from their children, it is not surprising that we are experiencing widespread increases in diseases that were once considered to be virtually eradicated. I won’t even go into the senseless epidemic of flu that is enveloping us.
