It’s the last day of Elul. As I wrote on the first day, when the period of self-assessment begins, we are now 30 days into the 40 day period of determining how we can make our lives- and the lives of others- better. Four Score and five years ago
No, I did not mistake the beginning of the Gettysburg Address. Instead, I am referring to the birth of the late Reverend Martin Luther King. Who was born into an America that was segregated. And, helped change the policy and practice of that nation.

How much is that?
College tuition. OK. Breathe… Yes, it’s high- very high. It amazes me that the highest tuition in the land is to be found at a STATE university. When I was going to college – back before we were a free nation- you could bank on two things. State schools were cheap. State schools were easier to get into.
Progress…but a long way to go!
It was 50 years ago today. A. Philip Randolph and Bayard Rustin organized the day’s March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom. To strike a blow for freedom and the ability of everyone to have a job that paid reasonable wages. A problem that still exists today- perhaps, even more so.
