What goes around, comes around?

Grow, Grow, Grow

Growing a business takes cash.  That cash either comes from operations, loans, or investors.  I’ve used all three vehicles to grow companies and I can tell you that the path is always clear- but never clear-cut.  There are all sorts of obstacles- ones you may recognize and negotiate, one you may miss completely, and some that just seem insurmountable.  The trick is always to find the best way to reach the goal.

Seniors at home?

It was about 20 years ago this time of year that I started a new venture with a client.  Back then, computers were ubiquitous in business- but the internet was not.  And, our company employed technology- automated telephone dialers and push button phones (wow- that was tech back then) to keep tabs on retired parents for their children living in the New York and DC areas.  (The goal was to eventually go national, after the shakedown phase.  But, Ellie decided that the siren call of Oregon – and her soon to be husband- overshadowed her desire to be an entrepreneurial success.)

Is your next one a B?

No Gravatar

I’ve written about B corps before. These are conventional, for-profit entities- kind of. Kind of, because they are supposed to be ‘Benefit Corporations’. Instead of being totally capitalistic entities, they use their profits for the good of the community, their employees, and others, as well as their owners.
