I know most of you are not Jewish. (After all, only 2% of Americans are- with an even lower percentage of humans worldwide.) But, I do know that many of you begin your new companies this time of year. Whether that is because you plan to get a piece of government largesse (and the government fiscal year starts this Sunday) or because your kids started school and you now have a little more time to push the envelope is immaterial.

The source of resolutions?
Resolutions. Improving ourselves. Making Goals. This is the time of year we generally consider them. It’s why I published my blog piece last Friday (1 January 2016) -because most of us actually consider what should be among our plans for the year now.
Happy New Year!
Today is the first day of the secular new year of 2016. Which means you probably are making sure you keep your New Year’s Resolutions. (I make my personal resolutions in September/October, when the Jewish New Year rolls around. My corporate KPI [key performance indicators] are evaluated three or four times a year to make sure we’re measuring the right things.)
Our Ostrich Behavior
I really hate sounding like Chicken Little. But, given the intellectual and economic prowess of our Congress (that’s both the House and the Senate), I really have no choice. (Anyone else recognize the stupidity of bringing snowballs onto the floor to lambaste those who understand the import of global climate change?)
