Hotspot?
Most of you know that you can use your phone as a hotspot. And, some of you have bought phone service that charges you when you use it- so you may want to skip this post- except for the information I will provide that affect (probably) your home WiFi network. (Our corporate cellphone phone service included hotspots for free- you should consider it.)
Is it s-l-o-w or just my imagination?
It’s back in the news. I wrote about this four years ago.
Net neutrality.
It’s YOUR Turn!
We have a president who simply cares for himself. No one else. He demands loyalty and provides none. (Look at his cabinet switches or how he treats his personal fixer.)
xFinity. Not ready for prime time.
So, I have been hounded by Comcast to upgrade my modem. Like it would really make a difference.
Oh, sure, Comcast advertises high-speed internet and great TV. Except my TV fails at least once a day. The OnDemand feature crashes mid-program and doesn’t remember where I was in the program. Under Pressure
Here’s a fact. I have only stepped into WalMart twice in my life. Once when my good friend (whose wife seems to love the place) wanted to shop. (I was more than amazed that someone would venture to WalMart to shop.) The other time was when an ex-girlfriend needed to buy some pet food- and it was midnight. (It seemed the only shop opened near her was a WalMart).
Dark Shadows
So, last Friday, I gave you a hint of the kind of warfare our infrastructure is enduring. Not well, mind you. Which means we are at risk. At risk of being flooded out of our homes, left in the dark, having our factories shut down, or traveling our roads confounded with lights that are arranged for congestion or collisions.
The World Wide Webification?
I never really thought about it that way. Having read a newspaper (or 5 or 6) every day of my life since I was in second grade, it never dawned on me.
