Yesterday, we talked about the use of PET imaging to detect Alzheimer’s. The process requires the injection of tracers into the brain to render the amyloids more easily detectable. The real problem is that PET scans are not cheap. (And, what would we do with this information, besides….)
Getting high?
Hypertension. That’s a word more of us are going to have rolling across our lips.
Because according to the American Heart Association and the American College of Cardiology, half of us are so afflicted. We have high blood pressure- and I’m not talking about old farts like me, but ALL of us. Appropriately, these new findings and guidelines were published in the journal called Hypertension.

What do we do when we just can’t lose weight?
No, don’t tell me we’re not trying hard enough. Some folks have fallen into the black hole of (no) weight loss- metabolic syndrome. I know that sounds like gobbledygook- and to some degree it is. Because it is not an illness per se, but a combination of risk factors that mean the subject is not losing weight, can succumb to heart disease, and/or diabetes.
