Tonight begins a new moon. In my religion, that means it is a new month (called Rosh Chodesh), and this one is Elul. This particular new moon crosses two days. (Many are just a single day). The first day, (the one starting tonight) is the 25th anniversary of the death of my mom. This anniversary is called a Yahrzeit. The second day (Saturday night and Sunday) of the new moon of Elul is anniversary of my daughter’s bat mitzva.

Rosh Chodesh Elul
Tomorrow, Shabat, is Rosh Chodesh Elul, a two day minor holiday. The first day, Shabat, is the anniversary of my eldest daughter’s bat mitzva. (I won’t say how many years!) Mazel tov, Shosh! Sunday, the second day, will be the 19th anniversary (called a Yahrzeit) of the death of my mom.
Doit
