School Daze
It’s not much. But, we expect that the water we drink be safe.
Oh, I know- many of you have given up on that. You carry plastic bottles of water. Because you fear the quality of the water being provided.
#NeverAgain
Here I am- swamped. I’m not complaining. I’m honored so many folks want us to help them with their tax filings.
The First Monday in September
It’s the first Monday in September. Which means it’s Labor Day. If you grew up in NY City, then, you know it’s been a holiday for 135 years. But, it took more than a few years for it to become a national holiday.
It’s a Wrap- NOT!
Oh, the memories. OK. The nightmares.
I remember when my kids were growing up, the local schools required (yes, that is the operative verb to employ) my children learn mercantile skills. They had to sell chocolates or wrapping paper to raise money for school needs. To be honest, I didn’t mind the chocolate so much- but the wrapping paper was not my cup of tea.
Home grown?
Most of you know that I live in the DC Metropolitan area. And, while our schools have made major progress (of course, coming from rock bottom…), most of the schools are still “almost ready” for prime time.

Some are among the 1%… both at the top and bottom of the spectrum.

‘Twas the day after Christmas….
With the cuts among the labor pool, we all feel overworked and under the gun. Because the “lean” organizational structure that companies have been adopting (which really means overworking most of their operational staff)- with the concomitant resistance to augment the pay scales- means that the remaining staff are always in a rush. So, when it’s lunch or snack time, we grab for pop, candy, and other junk food. Or, maybe a few of those “nutrition bars” along with our pop- when we only have 10 minutes for our lunch breaks at work.
Balagan!
This was supposed to be a great weekend. My son was getting a chance to bask in the rewards of those great experiences during his tenure at Michigan, which were made possible by his exploits at high school. But, my weekend was marred by revelations I received. And, the situation that ruined this weekend is not out of the ordinary- I believe this process obtains throughout most of this country. It is an absolute disaster. It must be stopped!
