No shortcuts
I don’t know- maybe I should make this an annual letter.
I was reading the Washington Post and discovered that Unilever is changing its policy. It will no longer be using folks to promote their products, these so-called “influencers”. First, because these influencers often pay to have folks follow them, as such improving their rating as influencers. And, secondly, many of these folks get paid to write their “celebrity” endorsements.
We have met the enemy…
We all seem to be worried (OK, that is everyone but TheDonald) that the Russians and the North Koreans have the ability to screw up our elections. To be honest, we should be terrified that they can (and do) create havoc in our civic discourse, by spreading false facts that incite and inflame.
Don’t confuse me with the facts. My mind is made up!
I admit it. I am one of those folks who engages in political discourse all the time. And, with folks from every aisle. (It’s no longer appropriate to claim there are only two aisles- since the GOP is split into at least five factions and the Democrats into at least two. Plus, there are fringe elements that are not represented in our government. Thankfully!)

fMRI in a court of law?
As you know, lie detectors are not valid in courts of law. And, as I’ve written, “the law is not science”; we know that there are more than subtle issues at stake. Just because you didn’t lie doesn’t mean you are telling the truth. You may not know the true facts or you could just be mistaken.
