Why today?

Today is Valentine’s Day.

I grew up with this being a day celebrated by others.  After all, it is “Saint Valentine’s Day” .(I know that Hallmark has been working overtime to make us all forget that first word in the title.)  And, a child going to yeshiva (a Jewish [very] religious school) is not to be considering any day involving saints.

Is this BRAND really different?

I am sure this will amaze you as much as it did I.  Naproxen- the over the counter drug sold by (almost) everybody and their grandmother- is different from different vendors.  Besides being sold as generic Naproxen, it is also sold under various “brand” names-  Aleve, Naprelan, Naprosyn, Anaprox, Apronax.

A new Japanese medical firm, Cyfuse Biomedical (Tokyo, Japan), is embarking on a most unique application of 3D printing.   The goal of their research effort is to create new blood vessels.  Koji Kuchiishi is the CEO of the firm; his previous endeavors include mobile phone design (at Panasonic), a patent associate, and a stint as a McKinsey consultant.  His firm has significant venture backing (JAFCO, the largest Japanese Venture Capital firm and the University of Tokyo Edge Capital Fund, among others). Cyfuse’s developments are “protected” by patents in the US, China, Singapore, and Japan.
