Our Ostrich Behavior

I really hate sounding like Chicken Little.  But, given the intellectual and economic prowess of our Congress (that’s both the House and the Senate), I really have no choice.  (Anyone else recognize the stupidity of bringing snowballs onto the floor to lambaste those who understand the import of global climate change?)

Quality of Health Care Differences? Or not?

No Gravatar

So, you’ve heard me say (What?   You don’t read my blog as if I’m talking directly to you?) that there is no reason why corporations can’t be run to provide benefits to their stockholders, their employees, their community, and the world as a whole.  That is NOT the reason to start a B company.  As a matter of fact, it would be pretty neat if our corporate entities returned to that philosophy.

Diabetes Patients Need IT (information technology)

I’ve followed diabetes mostly because it usually leads to kidney failure.  And, that has been one of my prime interests for nigh 55 years now.   And, if we can preclude this escalation, the quality of life one can have is pretty reasonable.  Given that there are some 30 million folks with diabetes, that means there are a slew of folks who can also find themselves subject to kidney failure.

33!

Come on. Let’s go on a picnic.

No, I am being dead serious. Today is the 33rd day between Passover and Shvuot. It’s called Lag B’Omer- not a very original name, since Lag means 33 and Omer is the counting we do as we await the next holiday; it was the time that Jews used to bring daily offerings of barley to the Temple.  (The reason we count the 50 days from Passover because we are waiting to receive the 10 commandments and the Tora- that is what happens on Shvuot.)

Wages and Profits

It’s time to review the facts again.  Because it’s reporting season- when companies let us know how profitable they’ve been- and how much we should reward the CEO’s who (they want us to believe) are solely responsible for this situation.   Yet, these same CEO’s seem to get rewards even if the results are poor. So, before I switch gears, let me just say I look forward to the promised regulations that will require companies to publish performance gains AND CEO pay increases side by side.

These &(#())$ tax forms!

No Gravatar

I know you said it.  These tax forms are a pain in the ….   You probably even said worse.

You complain how difficult it is to figure out how to pay your taxes.  Why there are so many forms.  Why it takes so long to complete the forms.  Or, perhaps you bring your stuff to someone like me to insure they are properly computed- one who enables you to pay the lowest amount of taxes required by law.

3D Printed Chemicals????

So, you all must know by now that 3D printing intrigues me.  I was lucky enough to be introduced to the concept when we were provided a CAD/CAM   (computer aided design, computer aided manufacturing) device so that we could help a client sell its specialty materials.   It was our job to design products for their potential customers that would wed them to our client’s wares.
