I’ve written about reasonable compensation (as recently as two days ago, I might add). Which is a complicated way of saying that when you are the owner of a company, you must receive a salary that reflects your efforts and your worth.

Another Physics Rule Bites the Dust
Circadian rhythm. The 24 (OK, closer to 24.8) hour cycle that governs our lives. It always intrigued me. Mostly because I don’t sleep the “required” number of hours- and wondered if my cycle was off.
Are you reasonable?
As long as you do not operate as a partnership (partners only get a draw, fully subject to all taxes, including payroll taxes), the owners of an enterprise are expected to be paid a salary. That’s the IRS position- the one that counts.
Armistice Veterans Day
It was on the 11th hour of the 11th month in 1918 that “The Great War” ended. Thaw was what the he first World War (no one expected the second- but they should have) was called that back then. It’s the name my father learned, too- and it was among the last sanctioned battles in which my grandfather (my mother’s father) was a participant.
It’s a Wrap- NOT!
Oh, the memories. OK. The nightmares.
I remember when my kids were growing up, the local schools required (yes, that is the operative verb to employ) my children learn mercantile skills. They had to sell chocolates or wrapping paper to raise money for school needs. To be honest, I didn’t mind the chocolate so much- but the wrapping paper was not my cup of tea.
Diet Babble
Diet. Not necessarily to lose weight, but I use the term to describe how and what we choose to eat. There is so much bull being passed around that the average person has not a clue what to do.
Heal Thyself!
We all want to find ways to have materials repair themselves. So, when our kids rip their pants, the holes will disappear. Or, when cracks appear in concrete, they will refill the space and keep our structures sound. (Oh, wait, I reported on BacillaFilla some 6 years ago… and, yet- it’s still not commercially available. Such is the promise of research. Which may portend problems for what I plan to discuss today.)
The Sun Will Come Out Tomorrow. The next day? Hmm
Voting counts. Not just tomorrow (don’t tell me you are not voting!), but every election.
Now, tomorrow, we choose a President, a few Senators, and every Congressperson. That will set how the Federal Government will run for the next two to four years. Pretty important.

Lets Get STEM to root early
Way back in the prehistoric age, when I was going to college, there were very few women heading for the engineering profession. Nor were there a slew of Black folks. As a matter of fact, my engineering/science college (undergraduate) had about 5 women enrollees. And, to the best of my knowledge there were significantly less than 3 score (there may have been 10) Black students. Out of an undergraduate population of nearly 3000.
Change. It comes in fits and starts to society.
This may annoy a whole bunch of you. But, that’s too bad. Because Tom Hayden and 58 other folks made a bold statement 54 years ago. And, while it was changed two years later (when it became far more widely distributed), the direction and observations have tremendous relevance today. Which is the biggest problem with the Port Huron Statement. It should no longer be relevant.
