Pay for Performance- not for executives, it’s not!

What a surprise- NOT!

I’ve said for years that the bloated, sky-high compensation proffered to corporate executives, the CEO pay, has nothing to do with corporate performance.  OK.  I apologize.  I have been wrong.

Don’t confuse me with the facts. My mind is made up!

I admit it.   I am one of those folks who engages in political discourse all the time.  And, with folks from every aisle.  (It’s no longer appropriate to claim there are only two aisles- since the GOP is split into at least five factions and the Democrats into at least two.  Plus,  there are fringe elements that are not represented in our government.  Thankfully!)

Stop? Assembly? Who knows….

Last night was the 7th day of Sukot- but it has a special name-  Hoshana Raba.  Kind of like a mini-Yom Kipur.  During services, we destroy the willow branches that are part of the Lulav and Etrog (see the picture below) we’ve employed during this seven day festival.  We either do this because it was part of the rain-bringing rituals that existed centuries ago- or to remind us of repentance.  (The origin of the practice is simply not clear to us today.)

Where credit is due?

No Gravatar

Everyone have to recognize one basic fact.  WE are not the customers of Equifax, Experian, or TransUnion.  That’s right- banks, credit cards, finance companies, employers- these are the customers of those agencies.  But, the credit reporting firms feel that they have no obligation to keep our information- stuff we NEVER authorized them to collect- secure.

What Can We Do About Taxes?

No Gravatar

Don’t you just love it that when the Democratic Party is in power, all the GOP can discuss is the increasing debt.  And, once the GOP takes power, they forget all about the debt and suggest a tax reduction for the rich that will add trillions of dollars to our debt and render the budget inflows to be a small percentage of the budget outflows.

Not a tent, but…

Yup.  Another holiday.  This is why, when I went to college, one of my professors harangued me that I missed so many days of class the first semester.   That I should stop skipping class.    Even though he lived in New York City, he had no clue how many Jewish holidays there were over the first 30 days of school.  (Hint:  If we use the Jewish month, Tishrei, which corresponds to September/October, we are talking about 12 of the first 23 days- and that doesn’t include Shabat!)

Income and Net Worth Increases at an all time high… NOT!

No Gravatar

Here we go again.   The US Government is trying to convince us how great the economy is booming.  Umm.   BS!   (I sure am tired hearing how a rising tide raises all boats.  Especially when the size of the boat affects how quickly and strongly that tide raises up the boats.)

Tax Reform? Maybe…

No Gravatar

Tax Reform is all the rage.  And, now that the fairy-tale land of budget reconciliation has terminated (it ended on 30 September, where items could pass with a simple majority- which means the Vice President could break any ties), our Congress will now get all hyped about lowering the tax burden  (I fear they will offer the rich a tax break, the poor more taxes, the middle class empty promises, and Christmas gifts for big business.  We’ll have to see what they really propose.)
