Another one bites the dust…

By the time you read this, my birthday will have passed.  9 September.   And, as I reported before, I’m now part of the older populations.  And, yes, my bones do creak- but only loud enough to be heard if you are contiguous to me.

So, I thought I would update my post from last year.  By describing my treasures…

My eldest is doing just fine.  With a wonderful position at a major university.  Helping that university provide its students with the highest caliber education found in business.  Living and loving her family.   What could be better for a rose in the garden of life?

My middle child is about to undertake an adventure with her loved one.  To travel the world.  Not for a week or two… but for a while.  May her journey be safe, be eventful, and provide her with the memories and impetus to drive her life forward- forever.

My youngest is back for his last year of undergraduate education.  Having spent two sessions this summer at the London School of Economics.  Where he also experienced other parts of Europe, the Olympics (basketball, of course- and it’s entire spectacle), and managed to eke out stellar (really, really stellar) grades.  And, will also serve as basketball manager, again.  Go Blue- and Go You!

My son-in-law.  Who is still doing the research he wants.  Helping kids cope with cancer.  Albeit in slightly different fashion, with different mentors.  That’s what growth is all about.

My grandson.  Who can sing you any- and every- Beatle song you want (or don’t).  Who has an imagination as big as the universe.  And, a vocabulary to match.   And, a smile that is unbeatable.

My staff and former staff.   Who made and make it possible for the mission to be accomplishable.  To make this world better, one client at a time.  I owe you…

And, to my significant other.  Who has finally decided it’s time to step out on her own.  With her own venture. To make the lives of nursing mothers, sleepless fathers, and fussy infants less problematic.

May we all make this world better- one step, one client, one child, one friend- at a time.  Because we all deserve it- and deserve to know the attention we deserve is there for us.Roy A. Ackerman, Ph.D., E.A.

  1. Roy,
Happy belated birthday! What blessings you have recorded here–God has been very good to you. Each of your children are doing amazing things–are they blogging their experiences by any chance? Would love to hear more.
May God continue to bless you and your family.

  2. Happy belated birthday; I hope the day was filled with special things just for you. More important than the individual day, though, it sounds as if your every day is truly filled with special treasures, and that’s the best gift of all.
