No, Now SWAK- but SWAC!
What do we do with an energy solution that only works in various parts of the world? Simple- we make sure that it becomes the modality of choice where it works well.
Tax Credits to be Harvested, Continued
This is a continuation from yesterday's post. (https://adjuvancy.com/wordpress/2023/02/07/tax-credits-to-be-harvested) Items highlighted in blue do not earn a tax credit. Items highlighted in red yield the credits.
Tax Credits to be Harvested!
Items in red are afforded tax credits. Items in blue save us money, but are not considered worthy of tax credits.
Greenwashing
Greenwashing. Unfortunately, we are forced to learn yet another new term. Conceived by companies and politicians hoping to gaslight (there’s another vocabulary word) us into thinking all is well- and they are helping to improve the world the way they claim.
A change in a ca. 270 y old protection device
I’m sure y’all remember this tidbit. We must have learned it in second grade. That Ben Franklin, on a June afternoon in 1752, thought it would be the perfect time to go fly a kite. While everyone else was scurrying to their homes.

Circular Polymers?
Almost everyone knows that we are awash with plastic waste. Waste that is rarely recycled- and if it is, it generally is only suitable for lesser applications than their original uses.
Almost? No, not really.
A first. We (that’s really the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory in California) finally produced a fusion reaction (that means hydrogen atoms fuse together and in the process liberate a bunch of energy) that theoretically produced more energy that it took to create it.
What Flavor EV Will Prevail?
A few weeks ago, Sam and I became more intimately involved in the EV (Electric Vehicle) controversy.
Which helped us discern the slew of issues involved with adopting these wonderful vehicles. Like the environmental costs of mining lithium, the fact that we haven’t upgraded our electric grids (and even killed Senator Manchin’s compromise bill that would have allowed us to more rapidly replace our aging electric infrastructure- because without it, we are going to be forced to use fossil fuels as the electric supply for these batteries), among other cost/environmental situations arising as we grow this business segment.
Hmm. It’s what we want- as long as it is proposed by OUR party!
When we were discussing the Inflation Reduction Act (sic), I mentioned that Senator Joe Manchin was arranging a major energy regulatory change to the act. One that would effectively speed up the approval process for energy related projects across the USA. Something that would annoy many of the NIMBY (Not in My Back Yard) and anti-fossil fuel contingents. Even though these same provisions are also critical for America to truly build a new electric grid- one capable of handling alternative energy with aplomb.
