The day after tax day… 2007. I am summoned to visit a potential client with a problem. They have been using PCLaw (a superb accounting system for lawyers, accountants, and consultants- i.e., anyone who needs to track and bill time) for several years, a program with which I was and am intimately familiar. We talk and agree that I will assist them to resolve their current problems.

Facebook tweaks
I know everyone has been talking about the changes on Facebook, but, somehow, I was not subjected to the new Timeline until late in August. And, that’s when I began determining what I needed to do to create some order out of this chaos. It seems to me that this “Timeline” that FB has imposed upon us is as creative and useful as many of those “timelines” I was required to make in second grade.
The Boss
Roy A. Ackerman
Let me start out by saying that I am not a fan of Bruce Springsteen. That does not mean I don’t like a few of his songs; it just means I rarely listen to him. (I’m an NPR devotee, with jazz as my primary music, when not listening to news).
We built that!
Alert: This is a political blog….
I wrote a piece that I sent to a few (ok, maybe 35) friends and family, because it’s that time of year…. Election time. And, I got back a reply (or two or 28) from a few folks. And, I recognized how many people let their biases override their logic. (I know, I wrote a blog about this already, too.) But, I still get surprised when folks just don’t consider the real facts.
Happy Sukot
By the end of next week, I’ll have taken off a total of 7 days in the last 22. Recognizing that there also were 6 weekend days, you can see that means only 11 working days.
We Ain’t Done Yet!
No, this is not Paul Harvey’s “The Rest of the Story”. First of all, I’m not Paul Harvey. Secondly, he is dead. But, this is a follow-up to that bizarre case, that I thought was put to bed a while ago.
Song. Daughter of G0d.
None. Nope, not one. Then, one. And, after four years, there were two. Two girls, separated by four years. My youngest was my youngest for a long time…then she was part of a blended family. Where she still was the youngest, but of four. And, then, she was no longer the youngest.
Another one bites the dust…
By the time you read this, my birthday will have passed. 9 September. And, as I reported before, I’m now part of the older populations. And, yes, my bones do creak- but only loud enough to be heard if you are contiguous to me.
Happy Labor Day
Labor Day. I’m surprised it still exists. Given the political climate in this country- where labor is neutralized, vilified, denigrated, and blamed for the ills of the enterprise or government. Because one can do so- and it’s easier to blame someone else (and not take responsibility for one’s own failings).
Free Will… or Free Won’t?
It’s the advent of Elul (which means “searching” in Aramaic; it’s an acronym in Hebrew for “I am my beloved’s and my beloved is mine”), the last month of the year (in my calendar), which begins the two month period of accounting and preparation. [Ed: This was written a few weeks ago.] It’s the end of our spiritual new year. This means it’s time to reflect on the year, what I plan to do next year, and to make amends should I have offended some… Which means we need to consider whether or not this was all fore-ordained; in other words, is there free will or not?
