 I sometimes (ok, oftentimes) wonder why folks keep letting things fall through the cracks.  Sure, I can blame it on the Turtle, who wants no legislation passed, just wrong wing judges appointed.  But, even he must care about folks who live in his state.  Or, not, given the conditions that obtain in Kentucky right now…

Nina McClelland, PhD

The National Sanitation Foundation (now called NSF International) was a grand idea of three profs at the University of Michigan.  Drs. Walter Snyder, Henry Vaughan, and Nathan Sinai established the concept at the School of Public Health. The goal was to create national standards for food safety and sanitation- as opposed to the piecemeal state approach that then obtained.  By 1967, it became a non-profit entity.  (I’ll discuss this more below.)

Pulling it out from thin air?

Two years ago, I reported on a really cool device developed by Dr. Omar Yaghi.  One that is able to produce pure water right from the air.  (OK. It does require that there be humidity- water vapor- in the air.  We are not talking about producing something from nothing.)

More unintended circumstances?

Here’s a test.

What do ibuprofen, naproxen, diclofenac, gemfibrozil, and propranolol have in common?  No, not that you never heard of them.  The first three are non-steroidal anti-inflammatories (NSAIDs).  Gemfribrozil is a drug that lowers our lipid levels.  And, propranolol is a β (beta)- blocker.
