Broken Bat?

Go, Phils! (I know, we are not doing well- but I still support them. With a 2+ hour drive – each way- as a season ticket holder.  I even got back last night at 2 AM- and was at a meeting by 5:20 AM this morning.) I’ve been a Phanatic since I was 12. When Jim Bunning pitched a perfect game on Father’s Day. But, I’m not writing about the Phils, per se…

Sour Grapes, Low Hanging Fruit, and Fine Wine…

I’ve written about Obamacare often. (Here’s one such article– you can find more searching for Obamacare or PPACA via the search box to the right.)  So have others. While the original goal of the concept was to improve the health of Americans, it seems that we settled for insuring most Americans and making health care more accessible.  (A valid goal, but far less lofty.)  But, there always is the hope that we can reduce the costs of healthcare, too.

Yes, you are a professional- but are you MY professional?

No Gravatar

There’s an old joke about which professions make the worst business managers and leaders. I won’t bother to say which one it is, though… But, if you are a professional (lawyer, doctor, accountant), then you know that joke (fact).  And, you know you need to make your business stronger and more profitable.

Is there a dry eye in the house?

No Gravatar

I routinely woke up with crusted over eyes when I was younger. Yup- allergies. But, I, thankfully, never suffered from dry eyes. (And, those that endured my performances on stage didn’t either 🙂 .) Because dry-eye syndrome is primarily found among post-menopausal women and older people.  (Watch it, there, buster!)

Better Cancer Treatment?

What to do? With that fateful diagnosis (or the knowledge that BRCA1 and/or BRCA2 genes are among your chromosomes)- a lumpectomy or total breast removal? We know what Angelie Jolie chose to do. And, many European Jews (Ashkenazi) are carriers of the breast cancer genes- so they are prime targets for breast cancer.

Heat affects

No, I promise, you are NOT boring me.  I’m just hot.
What you say?  What kind of baloney is that?

Sorry, though, it’s true.  The data are now indicating that we yawn to cool our brains. Dr. Andrew Gallup (Princeton University) has been studying the effects of yawning on thermoregulation since 2009, when he was at SUNY Binghamton.  (You’ll see how my brain gets cooled below, when I describe where I sit.)

Our Economy Needs Entrepreneurs

No Gravatar

OK.  Here I go again.  I’m going to tick off a few of you with my discussion of small business.. The facts are that our government has no clue that not all “small” business are the same, nor do they understand that lifestyle businesses are not really small businesses. Yet, they produce economic policies assuming the contrary. And, because of that our national economy suffers.
