Being an entrepreneur, I always understand the imprint that founders have on their organizations. After all, most of us consider our business ventures akin to our children. But, it’s also true that an outstanding leader also ends up establishing a decisive imprint on the company s/he leads- even if s/he were not the founder.
The first 100 days.
It’s an off-year, this year. Yes, I love that expression.
You see, there is no such thing. But, living in the metropolitan DC area, I understand that if it is not a Presidential election year, then it’s considered to be an off-year. And, if there is no national election, it’s almost moribund.

I’ve written before about the value (and pay) of CEO’s of large (and small organizations). And, the value of institutional memory. So, when one is new in a position- and in a new environment, it is difficult to trust your instincts. Because YOU have no basis for such instincts. So, you have to consider a fair number of options, or have folks you can trust that have that institutional memory upon which you can rely.
Find the RIGHT Technology to Grow Your Business
Drs. Tellis and Sood (USC and Emery University, respectively) discuss the need for management to choose and back the “”right” technology to grow their business. Their premise is that management often fails to discern among different levels of technology (and, therefore, miss the boat); it believes in the orderly path for technology development (as opposed to random path); and, management feels  that consumer taste is directed by whim (but, the authors correctly state this is untrue- consumers are motivated by existing innovation and changes).
