So, I am not sure how many of you know that besides leading my own company, I have the pleasure of working with myriad other firms, helping them grow their staff and capture opportunities. For at least one of them, I have direct reports among their staff.

Let us count the ways…
The year is drawing to a close. Which means most of us are preparing for what we will do in 2017.
Over the next few weeks, I’ll be going over how and what we should be doing (that we can still do) to save money on our taxes. But, today, I am going to ask you to consider a few things to make your 2017 great.
Inertial Forces
You know that customer service- outstanding customer service- is the key to customer retention. But, you probably haven’t really considered why that’s true.
IRS Follies
I’ve written how the partisan attacks on the IRS have devastated the service. Now, when a taxpayer calls the IRS, s/he can expect to be on hold for 75 minutes- and hope that when someone finally comes on the phone, they are not (un)intentionally disconnected- or told that the representative can’t help the caller.
HarryCary
I’ve written about my next mentor often. (Here’s but one example– with another great story about Cary.) He was but one half of the management team that took a chance to hire me. A 14 y old kid. And, let me basically take over their baby.
And, for this criminal act…
It’s happening again.
Most of you know that I am generally a fan of the US Postal Service. I don’t think service should be cut to 5 days a week. (But, if they did, I think Wednesday is the right day to cut- not Saturday. As it is, many of my newspapers [theoretically printed LOCALLY on Thursday] arrive Saturday or even Monday. Without Saturday delivery, I will probably cancel their subscriptions, since I, unlike my father, don’t read news that is a week old.)
The Bill of Rights?
Most of you know that I am (among many other professions and trainings) an Enrolled Agent. That means that I have passed muster with the IRS (after a multi-day exam and copious CEU’s to stay current) to handle taxes and finances for any entity subject to the IRS rules and regulations. As such, I interface with the various offices of the IRS at least once a week – and often more than once a day.
Customer Service- or let’s buy a bridge in Arizona…
I need to get this out of my system. This is not my “shtick”- it’s something Jeffrey Scott has perfected. But, I am just fed up with the way things have been for the past two weeks and if I keep this bottled up, I will explode. Once I share this with you- I will be free to move on (pun intended). (Or sue…)

What Happens When the IRS Runs Out Of Money…
Given the current state of politics in America, the IRS is being underfunded. No, I am not just talking about the fact that there is a desire to have the government spend less money- but spending less money for an agency that is responsible for collecting the government’s money doesn’t really make sense in the first place.

Starbucks?
What is it about Starbucks that makes people keep coming back? I don’t know about you- but I detest their coffee. It simply tastes burnt to me. (And, it’s not just me. My friends and clients also have the same feeling- even as they purchase gallons of their mixtures.)
