Yesterday, we discussed the history of Parkinson’s disease and the initial attempts at treatments. Ones that didn’t seem to provide more than short term relief for the patients. Which is why research has continued- and new theories are being tested.

I’ve written about Parkinson’s Disease often. (Here, here, and here– for starters.) My grandfather, Sol Kuchlik (A’H) succumbed to the disorder. It, therefore, became one of those ailments (besides kidney and respiratory disorders) that attracted my attention over the years.

Harness, not Repress
I’m old enough that I was spared the craze of this generation. The diagnosis of ADD or ADHD (attention deficit disorder or attention-deficit-hyperactivity disorder). It spared my elder children, as well- but my youngest was born when such diagnoses were far more prevalent.
Not stem, but fetal, cells…
I haven’r written about stem cells in a while. Mostly because nothing much was happening. Research using these valuable components is still stymied. And, the use of fetal cells also seems to rankle folks, since the cells are derived from aborted fetuses.
Pass the apple and the broccoli… I want to feel better.
The computer made me do it?
You know it. Everyone has their own pace when it comes to assessing data- especially when we are under time pressures. Someone like me can juggle mountains of data (in my head); others need to write things down, still others need to p-r-o-c-e-s-s m—o—r—e s—l—o—w—l—y still. Obviously, we wouldn’t feel very secure if that last group are among our air traffic controllers.
