Nowadays, mostly due to the pandemic, checking into a hotel is vastly different than before. Many of us use an app on our phone, which provides us electronic access to our rooms. No checking in at the main desk, no waiting for keys to be printed, so we can enter our rooms.

Come on! I can’t be all pandemic, all the time. Oh, wait, this is kind of about the pandemic situation. So, I guess -even in the height of (a now extended) tax season, the Covid-19 situation compels a lot of my attention.
Here we go again.
Yes, the economy is in the doldrums. And, this time we weren’t taken down by foolhardy banks leaving us with the tab. Nope. This time it’s a pandemic. (OK, a foolhardy government that made believe the disease and its effects were a hoax.)
So, earlier this week, I wrote about the economic conditions in America. How we no longer believe in the American Dream, how wealth is being allocated to the 1% as the bottom 50% loses. How the wage gains some folks want you to think are due to our economic conditions are really just the result of the (finally approved) changes to the minimum wage.
I have been listening to folks talk about the California bill (AB 5) that was just signed into law by Governor Gavin Newsom this minute. (OK, when this was written.) The provisions take effect on 1 January 2020, setting standards as to who is an employee and who is an independent contractor (such as drivers and delivery folks).
