So, it’s true. Even the Republicans know it. (But, to a large degree, they wish it weren’t true… because it removes one of their political daggers.) The American economy is recovering nicely- not where we want it, but better than it’s been in nearly a decade.

Framily (Sorry Sprint, I used it first!)
I was a bad boy the other day. I got caught up in the drama of one of my client’s issues.
Don’t get me wrong, we all have drama. We all have issues. And, to be honest, I thrive on solving the drama of others. (I generally suck at dealing with the drama of my own life- unless it is life threatening- and, then, my training kicks in and I am in overdrive.) But, in this case, my client was trying to develop an explanation of the craziness that obtained in 2013, because the narrative will be crucial for our moving ahead with plans for the future.
Happy Birthday, Eddie!
By the time you will be reading this, I will be in Cincinnati (OH). I haven’t been there is a long time- and this trip is overdue.
Happy New Year(‘s resolutions)
Now!
The time is now. The economy is changing- ever so slightly. But, the reality is that the American Dream is being shattered- the only way you can make that come true for yourself is to start your own business.
Children’s Asthma- Redux
Remember when I wrote about how Children’s Hospital in Boston was dealing with the asthma problem? (What? You don’t? Shame on you. Here is the link ☺ ) As I said then, that’s the sort of practice that needs to be everywhere to manage our overall healthcare costs. And, now, Children’s National Medical Center (DC) is employing a similar practice. Which is a very good thing- since DC has among the highest rates of pediatric asthma in the US. And, one where the area emergency rooms (ER) are the modality of choice far too frequently (in my humble – or not– opinion).
First, do no harm?
I’ve written that it is critical to examine one’s business environment often. To insure that what we are doing will make sense- and money- inf the future. Most of us lack lobbyists at our beck and call to insure our business is not overcome by those changes.
Creativity Enhancement
We can (no, should!) enhance creativity in our kids and employees. Because our genetic composition only provides about 1/3 of our creative capabilities (eugenics). The rest of our creative juices are developed as a result of the environment in which we grow and live (euthenics).
Divorce- Technology Style
I’ve written about family law before. You know- the fancy term for divorce law. I not only have experienced divorce (ok, I was one of the adults- I caused the divorce; my children experienced it), but I have served as the financial manager for a family law practice for more than a few years. This is a big business- there are about 800,000 divorces filed annually in the US (compared to the 2 million marriages begun).
Decisions have Consequences
We are having our babies older than we used to. Which is why our population is not increasing. (As a matter of fact, it was just announced that there were more deaths than births for soon-to-be minority majority Whites in America.) Because the longer we wait, the less likely we will have our (old) average of 2.2 children per family. Even that wasn’t “self-replicating”, with 2.33 children per family- which keeps the population stable. Right now, US families are averaging just over 1.9 children per family.
