Thursday night has been my steak night for a while now
I have been sharing dinner with some friends for a very long time. But, since last March, it’s been over Zoom. And, they always remark that my steaks look scrawny. Food, Glorious Food…
Diet.
I must see (on the days that I watch TV) about 100 commercials a day discussing our diets, our weight. From Weight Watchers to Nutrisystem to Noom and beyond.
Food, Glorious Food
I just finished a tour of Berlin and Athens. I traveled with a friend and his 11-year-old daughter. Soil. Water. Air?
I remember. From when I was really little, my dad took over the left side of the house for his garden. Where he would spend hours every spring, summer, and fall growing vegetables.
Nexus
Water. Energy. Food. Lacking any one item makes existence pretty tough. The problem is compounded because all three are related. That’s why it’s called the water-energy-food nexus. A century or two ago, this was less obvious, since they were all locally sourced.
You are under their spell…
So, I gave you Frank Kessler’s message on Friday. Today, I’ll talk about how the food industry has been manipulating food- and us- to keep us addicted to eating more- and more- and more. The industry specialists know that food’s addictive quality is a function of its salt content, fat content (squared), it’s “crunchability”, and a pleasing mouth feel.
