How many of those who voted for TheDonald really thought through what they were doing? Or, did they just think he was so impulsive that he’d shake up our government?

Tax Cuts and Jobs Act. That’s their lie, not mine.
Let’s be totally clear. I don’t expect this bill to pass the House and the Senate. At least not as it’s currently written. But, y’all should know what are the current thoughts. (I’m being generous here, since so many have no idea what’s in this bill, and that’s for representatives from BOTH parties. Note further that this was written on 2 November 2017.)

If our Pols weren’t liars, this would be bipartisan.
Let’s consider a few claims made by both parties.
They believe in Capitalism, but not Crony Capitalism. Except they we protect firms with special rules to preclude their failure. They encourage these firms to line their pockets (oh, wait- they call them political contributions) so they write special tax provisions to give them unfair advantages.

No. Not “anything else will be better”
For some 7 years now, all we’ve been hearing from the GOP is that Obamacare (aka PPACA- the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, aka ACA) is horrendous, it’s failing, and it must be repealed. But, we’ve seen what the House GOP produced- and now the Senate GOP has just proved that they can produce something worse that Obamacare. MUCH, MUCH, Worse.

We’ve been exposed!
Privacy. We all want it. But, we’ve already seen that the GOP doesn’t believe we deserve it. After all, in late March, they demanded that the FCC rules on internet privacy be rescinded. (I say GOP because the legislation passed 215 to 205 in the House- with nary a Democratic Congressperson agreeing with the bill that was sent to the President to sign into law. But, 15 Republicans didn’t agree with the bill and did vote no.)

It’s YOUR job!
Tomorrow is election day. For Virginia and New Jersey, as well as the City of New York, these are big days. We (in Virginia) are going to elect new governors, as well as legislators that will make laws we will have to live with for years, if not decades. And, that’s the point. Too many of you (I have only missed one election- a primary that was held in March- since the first time I have been allowed to vote) only vote in Presidential elections. Which means that you let other folks pick your Congresspersons and state officers- that pass rules with which you vehemently disagree. Or let them move district boundaries to insure that their favorites get elected time and time again, or to insure the opposite party has no chance of gaining a seat. 
The bubble has burst on the American Dream. We have lost sight of our vision, our mission. As President Clinton said, “If we become ideological, then we’re blind to evidence.” So, I guess we are totally blind, because we have become inimically ideological.

Love him or hate him, Frank Luntz is a wordsmith par excellence. This Republican consultant spends his time concocting words that evoke good feelings- despite the misgivings one may have for the principles that lie beneath the words. He asserts (correctly, in my opinion, as it applies to the American electorate) that “80 percent of our life is emotion, and only 20 percent is intellect.
