Modern Day Don Quixotes?

There are a bunch of interesting fellows (and gals) that populate my synagogue.   Today, I will be talking about some facts from a book written by one such member- who actually is also a professor at UVA.  (I love the fact that someone else besides me considers that a local drive; I did the reverse, living in Charlottesville and commuting to my professorship in DC decades ago.)

All night long!

Tonight, Saturday night is when the holiday of  Shvuot, the Feast of Weeks, begins.  It means I- and a bunch of other Jews- are going to spend all night long studying.  Just like the Jews did on the first Shvuot, when we (we are supposed to consider ourselves to have been at Sinai when the Tora was given) received the 10 Commandments.

Our country is changing.

Normally, we would say that change is good. But, the change that is coming over America is anything but. I admit that as a Jewish individual, I may feel this change more prominently than most. Why would that be true?

Running amok?

You have to be carefully taught.  Being given a green light makes the situation worse.

What am i talking about?  Racism.  Nazism.  Fascism.  And, I know a bunch of you are going to switch sites now, because you hate being preached to.  Because you want to keep onto your hate.
