No work?

I was reading some ideas from a law blog recently as to what these lawyers were doing now that a lot of their clients are disappearing.  Some of these losses were attributed to the downturn in the economy, others to the retirement of their rainmakers, and others gave (or had) no clue as to the reasons.  But, I did find some great ideas I thought I’d pass on- because these work for more than just lawyers.   More importantly- they are the things we all should be doing…OFTEN!

Requiem for a Heavyweight

The day after tax day… 2007. I am summoned to visit a potential client with a problem. They have been using PCLaw (a superb accounting system for lawyers, accountants, and consultants- i.e., anyone who needs to track and bill time) for several years, a program with which I was and am intimately familiar. We talk and agree that I will assist them to resolve their current problems.

The Law is NOT Science

I have written about the advances in neuroscience- and the fact that many of these advances are being turned towards law enforcement.  After all, if the brain can tell (give away?) our motivations and ideas (how the brain affects behavior)- it’s not surprising that police and the courts would find these items of great interest (since their function is to attempt to regulate behavior).
