Friday,(link here) I discussed a slew of SCOTUS (Supreme Court of the United States) decisions afforded us by the Roberts’ Court- the most pro-business (read “Big Business”) Supreme Court ever.  Well, here is a case they just decided, that small businesses can overturn without going to court- by using public opinion against one specific Big Business.

Till Death Do Us Part?

Betty Thompson would be pissed. Yes, she would. Because, she knew that the best way to have divorce ‘work’ in America was to make things equitable. She worked hard to change the laws in Virginia.  Instead of basing the split of assets from who had the title (which typically was the male, especially when she began her practice) to “equitable distribution”. And, while she knew that alimony had to have a finite limit- and not proceed for decades or for life- that change came slower.

We need to learn NEW lessons from these 3 failures

We need to change our paradigm.  Not because of the dramatic In Search of Norman Rockwell's Americachanges occurring in the Middle East (but that would be a good reason, anyway.  May the changes bring democracy to that part of the world). No, because we Americans have learned the wrong things from our own recent history- and those errant ways will make it difficult for us to grow and prosper as a nation.
