So, yesterday, I described how we learned about trucking and logistics. That is exactly why we now know how to help our clients in these endeavors. Whether it’s a common carrier (conveys freight for other firms) or private carriage (only carries freight for their own business), we understand the factors, the hidden issues, and the need to manage “the lone wolf” (the long-distance trucker) effectively.

When we started our dialysis company, we knew we were going to battle against some of the largest companies in the world. And, we were – if we were lucky- awfully teeny. But, we knew we had the absolute best product (yes, we were shy and retiring back then, too)- and we did our homework and knew how the marketplace operated.
From here to there
I’ve written about the need for logistics (here’s but one example) in all sorts of firms before. And, perusing the pages of a new book by Edward Humes (Door to Door), I was reminded how, given the internet, procurement of raw materials and sales of products and services really crosses many boundaries.
Did that model apply?
A few days ago, I described a meeting I attended- on social responsibility. (I wrote about it here.) It made me consider how the firms I have started and been involved with would qualify by those metrics.
The Shortest Distance
We know that the shortest distance between any two points is a straight line. So, it’s easy to pick the most logical route when we want to travel from point A to point B. It gets a little tougher if we want to factor in traffic concerns, buying gas at the lowest prices, etc.
