That’s a Buick?

Back in 2000, it was time for a new car. And, as I had been doing for decades, I had a Chrysler on order. Ever since 1975, my car choice had been Chrysler products. (I even had a car leasing company that provided only the Chrysler family of products to clients.)
Except that Mercedes Benz had just bought the Chrysler Corporation. Right before the delivery of my car.

Neuromarketing- a response.

So, my friends Ann Mullen (who kept me apprised of the blog) and Jaco Grobbolaar discussed neuromarketing last week.  The premise of Jaco’s blog was that we can’t trust what people say- since they often do other than what they indicate to marketers (and others).  So, marketers are looking to see (literally) more of how we think. The goal is to discern how our brain really is responding to those marketing approaches- and hone in on the best ones.

No work?

I was reading some ideas from a law blog recently as to what these lawyers were doing now that a lot of their clients are disappearing.  Some of these losses were attributed to the downturn in the economy, others to the retirement of their rainmakers, and others gave (or had) no clue as to the reasons.  But, I did find some great ideas I thought I’d pass on- because these work for more than just lawyers.   More importantly- they are the things we all should be doing…OFTEN!

I thought everything was just right…

I lost a client today.  No, this loss won’t really affect our bottom line. (OK, everything affects your bottom line, but this client contributed less than 0.0X% to our gross.)  But, that’s not the point.  I lost a client today.  It’s personal.  It’s because of something I did not do- not even something I did.  Something I thought was helping the client- but obviously, I was wrong. Taking the plunge? Insure success!

So, you’re taking the plunge in 2012. You will go off on your own. At the very least, you’ll be a solopreneur- but you may have aspirations to start a true enterprise and, therefore, become an entrepreneur. It’s not just a a business plan and a rolodex, you’ll need, however.
