This new piece of scientific data may be very traumatic for parents. Or, maybe these results are not translatable from mice to humans, so it’s just a tidbit to share. To be honest, the underlying facts are  not totally new- because other research has indicated that dysfunctional immune responses and microbiome (the bacterial population in the gut) composition are related to ASD (autism spectrum disorders).

What does it mean for us all if Alzheimer’s doesn’t originate in the brain?

That’s not as far-fetched an idea as you might think.  After all, Creutzfeldt-Jacob disease (CJD) can be acquired by ingesting infected meat products- or even via blood transfusions.  (These contain the contagion of prion proteins.)

There’s a switch!

I’m a pretty voluble guy.  I love to run around and be involved, talk with strangers, get excited, etc.  Until there is a crisis- which is when I become (at least for me) unnaturally quiet, focused, and dedicated to solving the issue(s).  (My ex-wife was stupefied the first time she was presented with my reaction to a major crisis- she had expected a completely different scenario.)
