We got a 911. Why do we treat it like a 311 or 511? I want the 411!

Have we learned anything?  Are we better off?

Yes, it’s a decade since “9-11”.  We have engaged in at least three wars- Iraq, Afghanistan, and Libya.  And, we are still engaged in those same three wars.

It can happen here. It shouldn’t!

One of my friends, Paula Lee Bright,  wrote last week about how Baby Boomers have had their retirement nest eggs destroyed. I remarked at the time, that I had lots to say on this subject, but wanted to avoid the Politics (I have no problems discussing politics on this blog)- and had written extensively on this subject in various other blogs and publications.

Let me start out telling you thatthe Brooklyn Bridge I am a born New Yorker.  I walk fast, I talk fast, I think fast…in fact, I do everything very quickly- with one exception.  ‘Nuff said.   Back to the topic.  I have been gone for some 4 decades.  But, I still am a New Yorker at heart.

Fee for Service works for car repairs- not people’s health

Yes, America has passed health care insurance reform. But (maybe in 2014), we have not addressed the 900 pound gorilla in the room- our overall health care, itself. Here’s an example of the problem- childhood asthma. Of all emergency visits for children (think for a second of how many broken limbs), about 15 to 20% are due to this disease (and much, much higher in cities, where there are less broken limbs from playing in fields).
