It’s time to recognize that like cholesterol levels (I’ve discussed the problem with our reliance on “good” and “bad” cholesterol before- there are four types and only one is deleterious, as determined by Dr. Robert Krauss), there are subtypes of obesity. It’s not just folks how have a body mass index (BMI) in excess of 30.

Gutsy Moves?
Here’s a company you probably never heard about. LNC Therapeutics, founded in 2010. But, if they keep up their developments, you will.
Say it ain’t so, Joe!
Well, this may put the kibosh on my favorite dinner. One I have enjoyed since I was a tyke.
For years, there have been rumors that eating processed foods is related to obesity. The problem is that there were correlations- but no proof of causation.
Damned if you do, Worse if you don’t!
For years, I drank Diet Coke. (Actually, I switched from Diet Rite to Diet Coke the second it was available. Or, maybe before it was commercially available. But, that’s a separate story.) Not just drinking Diet Coke, but devouring it.
Dietary Needs
I admit it! Ever since I was a very little boy. I have devoured noodles and cottage (or farmer’s) cheese. Admittedly, my folks weaned me on this staple (give me some liberty, here) because I was a coeliac kid. And, this menu item met the requirements.
Animal. Human. Not so different after all.
I’ve written about the practice of feeding antibiotics to our animals. And, why that puts our overall health at risk. After all, if we feed the same antibiotics to animals that we use for disease control, microbial resistance is bound to accelerate. First, because the animals will harbor microbes that get a chance to mutate and those resistant microbes can be transferred to humans via our food. Moreover, the antibiotics we feed our animals often end up in our waterways, which provides yet another process where the microbes can develop resistance to our critical drugs.
Eating Well?
I admit it. I watch a lot of television. Mostly around 1 am, 2 am, 3 am, when I am winding down for the day. And, the shows I watch don’t demand a lot of mental acuity, which is why I watch them then.
Diabetes Patients Need IT (information technology)
I’ve followed diabetes mostly because it usually leads to kidney failure. And, that has been one of my prime interests for nigh 55 years now. And, if we can preclude this escalation, the quality of life one can have is pretty reasonable. Given that there are some 30 million folks with diabetes, that means there are a slew of folks who can also find themselves subject to kidney failure.

Better Dinners?
Most of you have never had the opportunity to share my dinner table. (I’m sorry I missed you.) No longer having an active R&D lab at my personal disposal, I rely upon my kitchen to satisfy my chemical exploits. My background (both technical training and business experiences) has afforded me the ability to be an outstanding cook. (Yes, I am being modest .)
Anti-antibiotics?
Well, it IS happening. Big pharma is agreeing to withhold antibiotics from agribusinesses. To be honest, I am pretty surprised. Because, as I wrote some time ago, I thought the FDA’s voluntary request would fall on deaf ears. But, it seems that there will be fewer antibiotics fed to animals. (Notice, I did NOT say NONE.)
