You know, all of us (ok, those of us on the dark side of 50) are petrified we are going to succumb to Alzheimer’s, dementia, or other sorts of mental decline.

Reading is Fundamental
I am extremely lucky. I learned to read at a very early age; not only that- I developed the ability to read very quickly. Of course, I always was bored easily in school- which may explain why I spent more of my elementary days in the hallways than the classroom. And, had I been born a decade later, probably would have been dosed with massive doses of Ritalin.
Laughter is not medicine. It’s the staff of life!
I think I’ve told you that my laugh is among my most defining characteristics. I’ve been recognized (that is, without being seen) on Ben Yehuda street in Jerusalem, in a crowded bar at Christmas in Los Angeles, and at a demonstration in New York. All by folks who recognize my laugh. (Trust me- mine is so much better than the one you hear on Roseanne.)

The 3R’s, 3000 years ago?
So, why did I discuss Chanuka a few days early? Because it set the stage for today’s discussion.

Jack be nimble…
What do we do if we don’t believe holacracy (which we discussed yesterday) will work in our company? Do we just give up? I don’t think so.
This song still seems to be true.
Things have certainly changed. And, not for the better. Last week, I ran a series about wages in America. (I also have a Kindle and a paperback with even more such thoughts available for your reading pleasure.) Corporations are not paying living wages, expecting the middle class to subsidize their profits by providing the funds for food stamps, welfare, and Medicaid for their low-paid staff. It is obvious this is true, since the middle class and the lower class provide more than 1/2 the total federal receipts, with corporations barely providing 10%.
