I didn’t write this!
So, I was reading a few newspapers (that’s nothing new, I read about 5 a day)- and over the course of a day or two, the same article appeared in a few of them. I tried looking up the person who provided the advice, and was stymied in my quest to reach her. Nevertheless, her advice to kids about to enter college needs to be repeated far and wide. I’m guessing you didn’t read it- or didn’t get one of the papers where it was published, so I’m sharing her words of wisdom here.

I recall one of my professors asking me what I was doing (t)here. He was positive that I should have been in the MBA program and not the PhD program. Because my entire mien did not fit the (read: his) definition of a chemical engineer.
Straight line thinking?
We all talk about making schools better. The problem is that most of that talk does not seem to be translating into results. So, let me start out saying that I am not an expert in education. And, my knowledge of education is primarily based upon my own schooling (which went on and on and on…), my teaching, and my involvement with my children’s schools (both public and private, at all levels). But, as a sentient being, I understand the differences that teachers can make and there are different ways to teach- and they have profound differences.
