Pipe Dream- or First Step?

Here’s something else that was in that tax bill. One I kind of glossed over.

And, I can guarantee that this provision- which is only a feasibility determination- if the IRS elects to proceed, there will be a LOT of screaming and yelling.  Not from me- I’m all for it.  But, Intuit (aka Turbotax),  Jackson Hewitt, H&R Block and a slew of other tax preparers are clearly not in favor of this idea at all.IRS Free File

The Ides of April!

OK.  Today’s the day.

And, from my point of view.  I’m so pleased that this is the first time in a long time, that the holiday of Pesach (Passover) did not interfere with my ability to serve my clients’ needs.  That’s right- Pesach won’t be here until Friday, so I could spend this past Sunday to Friday analyzing my clients’ needs and helping them pay the lowest amount of taxes required by law.

Mea Culpa!!!!!

I really should have thought about this when I was presenting the results of studies on what tax programs folks can use.  (To recap- if you are at the 50% income level or below (~$66K or below), there are free programs that let you file your taxes.  [Note:  Many of them actually charge for state filing; it’s just the federal filing that’s free.]  One offering is great if you don’t itemize; if you do, these folks recommend that you choose another.  But, if you an unincorporated  business, own (all or part of) an established business (that requires separate tax filing), possess a moderate-to-large stock portfolio, own a rental home or building… then you need our services.)

A new day may be dawning.  Or not.

Most of you know that I work with a slew of folks and companies to help them pay the lowest amount of taxes required by law. No cheating, no subterfuge- just availing themselves of all the laws that afford folks to pay their taxes- but only the amount they owe, not some number that is afforded by plugging in numbers to TurboTax, H&R Block, TaxAct, etc.

What’s going on? Please tell me!

Have you ever considered how your client views your law firm (or your tax preparation or medical specialty or engineering- even order fulfillment) firm?   They come, they ask questions, they give you money, and then they wait…and sometimes wait and wait.  That whole process is something you can change to demonstrate your ‘value added’ components to your clients/customers.

Are you planning to file your taxes yourself?   If you are single, an employee, and don’t own a home- then I agree, that’s a great thing to do.  Once any of these attributes change, then there a great deal of options available to you that will let you save money.    And, that’s where talented folks like our staff actually save you more money than you would pay us to determine the lowest taxes you ar legally required to pay.
