One of the amazing things about science is that what we thought we knew was right is often wrong. I know that can be disappointing, but to me it’s pretty exhilarating.

Pomp and Circumstance.
What a weekend this will be. It feels like it was a second ago this young child was born. But, no- he is almost 22 now. The youngest of the brood. About to graduate from the University of Michigan. His first choice- no, his only choice- school.
One Point…
During a busy time at work, I took two days off. Because I wanted to spend time with my son- my youngest- who deserves as much of my time as anyone else in this world. Who was being honored for his service to his school.
Into every life…
We had a good week. One we deserved. We lost two of our clients last year- one to death and the other to the retirement of the principal. One was expected, the other was devastating. I’ve written about one of them already.
Sports on Campus?
I have written about football on campus more than once. (OK, I know some were closer to rants.) Not only because of the infractions of the coaches and players. Not only because of the injuries that are rampant in this game. (Only now are we beginning to talk about the plethora of TBI- traumatic brain injury- that accompany this sport). Not only because the graduation rate is below those for the rest of the school. But, mostly because of the drain on college finances.
Flu virus and diabetes
Earlier this week, I talked about how the flu vaccine is useful in lowering our cardiac risk. Today, we’ll examine its relationship to diabetes.
Make it autonomous
So, I haven’t decided if this is about multi-tasking (time-slicing) or practicing… Because, if we don’t hone our abilities to perform functions to perfection, then our ability to do multiple things nearly simultaneously fails miserably.

You did it. That widget you’ve been working on for two years in your basement is finally ready for the market. And, now, now, you’ve got to build a team to do that. Who do you hire? For what do you look?
Finally- GM’s 1964 World Fair Promise May Be Arriving
I know I am going to date myself (not that kind!), but I still recall with wonder the GM exhibit at the 1964 World’s Fair in New York. It showed the kind of future I think we all hoped for- and never got. Where did our idealism go? However, that’s not the topic for today.
